Information on all administrative aspects of the library.

Purpose

The purpose of the Katharine L. Boyd and the Peter & Regina Yellin Learning Resource Center is to support the college mission to “provide comprehensive student and academic support programs that help students meet their academic and personal goals” and “to provide opportunities for student involvement, cultural enrichment, life-long learning, and community service while honoring its core values".

Mission

 The mission of the Katharine L. Boyd and the Peter & Regina Yellin Learning Resource Center is to serve the students and faculty of Sandhills Community College together with, insofar as budget and staff permit, the students enrolled in baccalaureate programs on our campus and the members of the community who draw upon the college library for research and recreational use.

In concert with this major mission, the library also seeks to comply with the Criteria for Accreditation of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and with the American Library Association Standards for Community, Junior, and Technical College Learning Resources Programs. 

Goals

The goals of the Katharine L. Boyd and the Peter & Regina Yellin Learning Resource Center are to:

  • Provide resources that are adequate to support the instructional programs of the college.

  • Provide equipment – computers, copiers, etc. -which is updated or replaced on a regularly scheduled basis so as to ensure library patrons with adequate support.

  • Provide a sufficient number of professional support staff in order to perform adequate services for library patrons.

  • Provide library staff with regular opportunities for professional development and/or specialized training.
