Searching the Library Catalog

Choose the type of search (Default is “all fields”)

Enter the Search terms, in the box, and click the search button

At the results screen choices to narrow the search are possible, if desired.

After each change in the left column, click the “include” or “exclude” button

Search terms can also be added, deleted, or redone. Type terms in the search box and click the “Search” button

Scroll through the list until the desired item is found.

IMPORTANT!!!! Click on the TITLE of the item needed. A “pop up” window will appear with information on finding the item.

The “pop up” will give the information to find the status of Boyd Library item(s) and the location of item(s) within the Community College consortium.

Finding Books and DVDs

Search the catalog for books and DVDs.

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) services are available FOR FREE when a book(s) is/are not accessible through one of the 49 member community college libraries (CCLINC) or when a periodical article is needed that is not offered online. Requested material takes one to two days to deliver to Upchurch Hall at the SCC Hoke Center site.

The ILL service is available to students, faculty, staff and community patrons FOR FREE. Please send your ILL request along with your name, valid email address, working phone number, 7 digit student ID number, and 13 digit library ID number to Monday thru Friday, 8:00 am thru 5:00 pm.


Placing Holds and Renewal

When placing a hold directly from your Library Catalog search, click the red "Place Hold" icon.  You will then be prompted to enter a user name and password.  Your user name is the barcode on the bottom of your SCC student, faculty or staff ID.  If you are a community patron, the barcode is located in the center of your library card. 

For all patrons, the barcode begins with 29884.  Enter the whole barcode number and ignore the password field, as we don't use it for authentication.  The next screen will prompt you for pickup at Sandhills.

Once you have placed your hold(s), go to My Account in the gray bar at the top of the screen to review your library record. 

You can also go to Log In and enter your barcode to renew your items for a longer checkout.  If you have issues, please call the Circulation Desk at (910) 695-3819 for assistance during regular hours of operation.
