FAQs

Is the Boyd Library and Learning Resources Center open?

Yes. The Library is under reduced hours currently. We encourage everyone to check the Library’s home page before coming over, as hours could change with very little notice. We encourage everyone coming to the Library to follow the guidelines the Governor has set forth regarding COVID-19. The library staff has configured the library in order to follow these guidelines, in order to make our facilities as safe as possible.

How do I check out materials?

In order to check out materials, you must be registered in our system. If you are a student, bring your student ID with you. If you are not in our library system, we will add you. If you do not have a student ID, yet, bring a picture ID with current address and we will add you.

Can I renew materials?

Yes. Call or email the library in order to renew your materials.

How do I return Library materials?

Materials may be returned inside, when the Library is open or in the outside book drop 24/7. The book drop is located behind the library, the parking lot. It is the same parking lot used for Owens Auditorium.

Can I request or place holds on materials that are not available in the Boyd Library?

Materials cannot be requested from other community college libraries, at present. Academic materials may be requested through Interlibrary loan.

Will I be fined for any materials that are late?

No. However that may change when the Library and Campus begin Fall hours on August 17th.

Do you have textbooks for Sandhills classes?

Typically, we do not purchase or add current “in use” textbooks. Occasionally we may have a book that an instructor uses for class. Sometimes instructors do put their own copies of textbooks on reserve in the library.

Can I access other Library resources when the Library is closed?

Yes. Students, Faculty, and Staff can access our online databases 24/7. These resources are linked from the “Find Articles and More” on the library’s home page (left side) Keep in mind you must be a registered student or current faculty/staff to access these resources virtually.

What if I need help?

Librarians and other staff are available to help via telephone, email, and chat. You may also schedule an appointment with one of the Librarians to assist you.

Are there any other services?

The campus Wi-Fi can be accessed from the parking lots.
